Usually I would ink using a light table, vellum or another tracing medium. This project is unique because I am using photoshop tools so that I can create small, angular and precisely placed lines in the image. I use this method often when I am replicating advertising art from the first half of the twentieth century. It is painstaking and tedious but it also gives me absolute control over exactly what goes into the image. My worst fear always with inking is that somehow in the transition from rough to finished art it will lose some of its life and spontaneity, I have to constantly guard against this.
